Helping Sue Fight MDS

A Wife, a Mother of 2, and a Grandmother of 3 with one more on the way. Through most of my life I have watched Sue care for, fight for, and worry for everyone else in her life and at times those not even close to her. She has spent her life caring for others and thus the time has come that she needs those to care for her. She is a survivor in every sense of the word. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with Hep C several years ago, that she gracefully fought through, and although they have cured the Hep C, it has done its damage.

Just this month she was diagnosed with MDS , a rare group of bone marrow failure disorders, where her body no longer makes enough healthy, normal blood cells in the bone marrow.  The Hep C has damaged her liver to the point that a bone marrow transplant may not be possible, however second opinions are being requested.

Due to the condition Sue is left in a vulnerable state causing her to lose energy faster than usual and requiring multiple blood transfusions. She has worked full time most of her life and relies on the her full time income. Unfortunately due to her new diagnosis and the state of her daily health she is unable to continue her full time job.

Sue has worked her entire life, making sure to provide for herself and her family and will not ask for help even when it is most needed or deserved. Thus the reason for the this GoFundMe. I ask for your help, for her and her family, so that she may have a chance to live  her life as comfortably as possible while she and her loved ones endure this horrific time.

UPDATE: Since we started this GoFundMe almost a year ago, Sue and her family have been through a trying time. After several doctors visits and opinions it has been determined that Sue is not eligible for a bone marrow transplant due to the damage her organs have incurred from the HEP C.

Without a bone marrow transplant curing her is not an option, she is currently on a low dosage of KEMO, but is is not a cure. The KEMO gives us hope that she may be able to spend a little more time with the ones that she loves. She is experiencing issues with her platelets, and because of this, the doctors have attempted to increase it with steroids with no success. Now they have ordered that she receive shots in the hopes that it will increase the platelet count, if they do not work, they will have no other choice but to remove her spleen. With the removal of her spleen she will not have an immune system to fight off even a common cold, thus increasing the chance that she will get sicker even faster.

She was recently approved for disability but what they provide is not enough for her to afford the necessities for herself and pay for her doctor visits, which have tripled due to having to receive new shots.

We ask for your help to make her life as easy and as stress free as possible. Our hope is that she will be able to spend as much time as possible with her loved ones without having to worry if she can afford the treatments. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and will help her tremendously.
