HelpingRoots For Flood Relief Fund
Donation protected
I am Mahendiran Periyasamy from Cockeysville, MD. We, a group of volunteers have been working together to support the recent Flood Relief Efforts in South India (An Asian country).
The 2015 South Indian floods have resulted from heavy rainfall during the annual northeast monsoon in November–December 2015. This has especially impacted the day to day lives of people around Chennai, Cuddalore, Pondicherry and Chidambaram.
More than 300 people have died and over 18 lakh (1.8 million) people have been displaced as a result, with damages and losses estimated to be more than ₹20000 crore (US$3 billion).
We act as the bridge between the 'resource seekers' (the one who needs rescue, or food or other time- critical service) and 'resource providers' (Volunteers who can rescue, who can supply food etc.). We have 200+ volunteers who work round the clock from different part of the world using the technology and social media.
Through this minimal effort of fund raising, we would like to support the needy by donating food, essential materials etc. We are carefully analyzing and doing the background verification to make sure that the right service and support go to the right beneficiary. To bring more transparency, the details will be shared here.
We are working closely with an Associate Professor of Annamalai University, Dr.Thirugnana Sambandam, in South India. He has a huge volunteering team of 11,000 students and teachers that are distributing food and relief materials with high focus on remote villages. They are also working to re-establish the houses of the farmers that were destroyed in this flood. All the funds that were collected through www.gofundme.com are transferred to Dr.Thirugnana Sambandam for this flood relief work. The contributors, for any further clarification/verifications, can contact Dr.Thirugnana Sambandam and I can provide their contact details
