Helping Peter get back on his feet

Hello! We are starting this Go Fund Me fundraiser in hopes that we can raise money to assist Peter Perales and his partner with covering his medical and personal expenses as he recovers from a lengthy list of medical issues that have arisen over the past two months.
Peter had recently followed his dream and became a licensed contractor, starting his own remodeling and renovation company, Pino Restorations, in November of 2020. With only 4 weeks into his new business venture, he began experiencing extreme and uncommon fatigue and weakness, which started the onslaught of all of the issues that we have come to know. It was the beginning of December and the holiday season was upon us, and little did we know what we had in store for us. We were on our way to our first emergency room visit of many.

Upon arrival at our first emergency room visit,  we found that he was experiencing critically low potassium levels, otherwise known as hypokalemia. During that visit, we also found out he has severe diabetes, an issue that we did not know about, as well hypertension, a.k.a. extremely high blood pressure. He was prescribed a cocktail of prescriptions to help manage both ailments but unfortunately, this story does not end here, and while he is taking a mix of 22 pills a day, we are still not completely at healthy levels.

Peter was discharged from the hospital and we tried to get back to normal at home while managing the new issues that had arisen. We looked forward to the holidays and were excited relax during the holiday break when our story took a turn for the worse. Peter had fallen off a ladder and was critically injured. As we headed back to the emergency room for a second time, we found out Peter had broken his collarbone and was badly bruised in multiple areas on his body and was having trouble walking and moving his left arm.

After another three day stay at the hospital, Peter was discharged again and we headed home to be on the mend and try to salvage what we could of our holidays. As a few more weeks went by, we were directed by Peter's primary care doctor to see a nephrologist, aka Kidney doctor since his bloodwork levels were still not in the best of shape. He was also still experiencing mobility issues and could still not move his left arm.

We followed all of the doctors appointments that were needed, and upon meeting with the Kidney doctor, he was further diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation called Liddle Syndrome, and was prescribed medications to help manage his conditions, however things still weren't getting better and he was still feeling quite unwell as we entered into 2021. He also started to experience difficulty with his vision in one eye and after seeing an opthamologist and an eye specialist, he was further diagnosed with central cerous retinopathy, and is still not able to see out of one eye. A few more weeks went by, and his health just seemed to be getting worse and we knew that we needed to go back in and get help, so we proceed for the third time to the emergency room. During this visit, many more tests were done and they found a spot on his pancreas, as well as diagnosed an additional full rotator cuff tear, answering the question as to why he still wasn't able to use his arm after a month of healing. As we left the hospital for the third time, we were hopeful that we could begin the road to recovery, and get back to normal again soon, but unfortunately that was not the case, as he kept feeling not well, and we couldn't help but notice that rapid weight loss that he was experiencing. He had lost 35 pounds in  two months.

Once again, he the hospital was able to get his vitals and blood sugars back to normal and away we went with some tweaks on his medications. We came home once again trying to move forward but he kept having difficulty walking and still didn’t feel well and his back started hurting severely and within a couple days, he could barely walk or get up to go to the bathroom.
As we came back in to the emergency room for the fourth time, we soon found out that Peter had ruptured 3 disks and has a herniated disc. Unfortunately, Peter had already had two back surgeries on two of the disks that were broken many years ago, and the prognosis was that they cannot perform another surgery on them.

So here we are today, still at the hospital, and trying to get to a place where Peter can walk and get up on his own. While it is hard to ask for help, we know that this fight is not over, and that he has a long road to recovery and will not be able to get back to work anytime soon which is why we are asking for financial assistance from anyone that can help us. We appreciate that you care and are taking the time to read his story, and we know we need help. Any little bit helps and we greatly appreciate everybody's love and support as we try to get through this. From both of us, Thank you.
