Family Comes First at Peabody Properties
As a family of more than 450 team members, we have the responsibility and manpower to make a real and meaningful impact assisting and helping those Peabody Properties team members who need it most.
Since hurricane Harvey made landfall on Friday, Houston, the fourth-largest city in the US, has been inundated and parts of the county have received more than 30 inches of rain.
Homeless Texans endured a night of terror as Harvey pounded the city from Saturday into Sunday. All across the state, homes have been decimated and dramatic rescues have unfolded. Many people have gone to great lengths to secure escape from the catastrophic flooding and storm, and sadly this is only the beginning of the longterm challenges to come.
On Tuesday morning were notified that one of our own - Chy’na White, a Property Manager, was desperately seeking a way to help her family in Texas from over 1,800 miles away.
Chy’na’s family has reported that there is no food, drinkable water, diapers or formula for their young children. Her aunt, a dialysis patient is having problems seeking treatment, as many hospitals are closed and Texas’ health care infrastructure strains under the current conditions. The only relief they can find from the rising waters is on the roof, but from the roof there is no escape from the wind, lightning or rain.
As rescue operations continue, we need to do what we can to help out our extended PPI family. PPI has set up a GoFundMe account for families of PPI team members who have been affected by the recent floods. Funds will be distributed to victims, such as Chyn’a’s family, to pay for shelter, food, water, medical supplies and other desperately needed necessities.
