Medical Bills

Hello everyone and thanks for checking out this page.

As some of you already know, I've been on unpaid medical leave since February. I have been diagnosed with severe recurrent major depressive disorder, social anxiety disorder, general anxiety disorder and PTSD. I was in a full day and then partial day therapy program which I repeated twice. I have been hospitalized three times for suicide attempts. I am currently undergoing electroshock therapy and continuing to work with my psychiatrist on my medications and a therapist.

As work is one of my biggest source of anxiety I have been instructed to take a leave. However, because I have been struggling with these issues for so long I ran out of paid leave quite a while ago and now have no money coming in to pay my regular bills as well as my medical bills (which, of course, adds to the stress). I have applied for Long Term Disability but I had to wait 90 days to be eligible, they are reviewing my claim now but it can take another month or more to get a decision.

I am extremely lucky in that my dad has helped me but he is on a limited income and has already graciously given a lot which helped me get from February to now. I also have great friends who have helped by taking me to appointments, taking care of my cat while I was hospitalized, cleaning my house (including a a pretty gory scene after the last attempt) and just being there to talk to.

I feel awful asking for help like this but I realize that I have to swallow my pride and do it.

Any amount of money will be greatly appreciated, even $5.00 helps. I will keep track of all the donated money and how it is spent and will share this info with donors to ensure everyone that I am not misusing the funds. The $5k is a placeholder, I will be thrilled with any total amount.

I realize that times are tough for many people now and I certainly will not judge anyone who does not donate.

Some of the ways the money will be used include:
-Hospital bills (>$2k)
-Mortgage and utilities (>$1,100/month)
-Gas for my friends transporting me (cannot drive while undergoing ECT, ~$50/week)
-Groceries (basic, generic stuff, cat food and litter, ~$30/week)

If you can think of any "reward levels" or anything I can offer in return please let me know.

If, by some miracle, people are extra generous my hot water heater needs replaced and my house's air conditioning condenser is on it's last leg but the above items are more pressing.

Thank you all very, very much!
