This fundraiser is to help my sister Allison. You probably know her as the other half of Gilbert Taping.
Allison suffered a back injury last July and was diagnosed with minor scoliosis in her spine, but the doctors were not super helpful and sent her home without any guidance on what to do next other than “googling what scoliosis is”. So, she decided to take some time off of work and off of the gym to heal. She went to physio, and came back to work when she was starting to feel better. Maybe it was a little too early to get back to work, but she felt like she needed to come to ensure she could cover her monthly bills/expenses.
It had been almost a full week of her being free of pain, back to work and normal activities. But unfortunately, something ended up popping in her lower back, causing her to drop everything in pain. This time, her pain was a lot worse than before, shooting in her lower back and travelling down both her legs. She was unable to move as the pain was too sharp, so our younger brother carried her to a chair where we laid her down. We called 811 to get some advice to ensure we wouldn’t worsen her injury and they told us to keep her still and call 911 to get an ambulance. She got hospitalized on Sunday august 24. We are still waiting on results.
As of now, she is unable to sit, stand, walk, or really do anything other than lying down.
As we wait here in the hospital room, she is already stressing out about what she’s going to do to cover her bills for the next few months, not knowing how long this recovery will take. Unfortunately, her job is very physical so she will be unable to make money until she fully heals, which could be a while.
Update as of august 29, her doctor recommended a full change of career as they found out she has arthritis on her spine, which has her even more worried and stressed about what’s to come.
I’m hoping to raise some funds to help her have peace of mind and not stress about money. I’d love to help her so she can focus on her recovery and heal fully prior to returning to work, without being anxious the whole time.
The goal is for her to fully heal, get other opinions from different specialists and hopefully come back to work with me as a drywall finisher. Ultimately, she will follow the advice she gets from other professionals.
If you are able to donate a few dollars, thank you so much. Anything will help. She will be extremely grateful for all of your kindness.
Feel free to share this fundraiser to help me help her. Your support is greatly appreciated!
