Helping Children in Slums of Cambodia

Friends, Family, & Colleagues: I'm very excited to share with you that I will be taking a little time away from my law practice this fall and travel to Cambodia in October & November to volunteer for poor and deserving children. I have longed to do this type of work for years and the opportunity has finally arrived. I will work on two volunteer projects: 1) I will a member of the Habitat for Humanity Global Village "Mekong Big Build Team" and help build a village of houses for those landless scavenger families who once lived in, and were displaced by the closure of, the Stueng Meanchey dumpsite in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and 2) I will also volunteer as a teacher and advocate at a school that gives poor children faced with the daily threat of hunger (and the very struggle for survival) the chance to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Desperate parents, who once had little option but to take their children along with them as they worked to survive, are now paid in bags of rice if they send their children to school. Now children are getting an education and an opportunity for a different - and hopefully brighter - future.

I need help funding this trip. The money raised will assist me in making the trip to Cambodia and will go to my Habitat for Humanity Mekong Big Build Team and the SBB slum school.
