Help My Parents Save Their Beloved Home

Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

I am reaching out with a heart full of love for my parents and a deep sense of urgency. Asking for help is not easy, but right now, I feel desperate enough to put my pride aside for the sake of the two most generous and loving people I know. My parents have always been the ones to give, to help others, and to open their hearts and home to anyone in need. But now, they are the ones who need help.

My parents moved into my mom's family home about 11 years ago after my grandparents had passed away. Built in the 1800s, it has been a cherished part of our lives for generations. It’s where love has grown, where memories have been made, and where my parents have built their lives now. But time has taken its toll. The inside of the home is falling apart, the pipes froze, and shortly after, my dad went into the hospital with incredibly high blood pressure and then had a stroke (2 different ones in different parts of the brain) The house is not only unsafe but also increasingly inaccessible, barriers that will make it even harder for my dad when he comes home. They do not have a washer and dryer in there home or reliable plumbing as well as many other problems.

My dad absolutely loves his home, and one of his greatest joys is caring for his chickens. He has each one named and even prays for them every night before making sure they’re safe at night. My mom, who is losing her eyesight due to glaucoma, does the best she can, but the state of their home is making day-to-day life even harder for both of them. I fear there may be mold, adding to their health concerns, and with their fixed income, they simply don’t have the financial resources to make the necessary repairs.

I am doing everything I can to support them, but the needs are too great for me to handle alone. I want to give them a home that is safe, comfortable, and accessible—a place where my dad can recover and where they can continue living with dignity and peace. Every little bit brings us closer to living in a safe and healthy place.
