Help Julie After Eaton Fire Loss

Help Julie cover rental expenses after the Eaton Fire.
For nearly 50 years, Julie’s home in Altadena was her sanctuary. It’s where she raised her two children, cared for her husband, and nurtured her passions for gardening, raising chickens, and crafting. As a retired nurse, Julie dedicated her life to helping others, providing care and comfort to patients and their families for decades. She carried that same selflessness into her personal life, caring for her husband during his final days and always being there for those in need. In October, she lost her husband to a brain tumor, and she had been preparing to host a celebration of life for him when tragedy struck again.
On Tuesday night, the Eaton Fire roared through Altadena, forcing Julie to evacuate her home at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. In the rush to leave, Julie prioritized her beloved dog and her husband’s ashes, leaving behind nearly all of her belongings. She spent the night in a grocery outlet parking lot, watching the fire consume the neighborhood she’s called home for nearly five decades. By morning, she learned that her house—and with it, a lifetime of memories—was gone.
Julie shared this home with her husband, a space that held countless memories, including their wedding in the backyard just three years ago. His favorite spot on the deck was a place of peace for them both, and she says she could still feel his presence there. Now, that shared space, filled with love and memories, is gone.
Her children, both raised in that home, are doing everything they can to support their mom in this difficult time. They’re working to find her an apartment nearby so she can stay close to her property while navigating the long and overwhelming process of dealing with insurance. However, the road ahead is daunting.
Julie has spent her entire life caring for others, but now she finds herself in a position she never imagined—needing help. As a nurse, she gave endlessly to her patients, her family, and her community. Now, her children have lovingly reminded her that it’s her turn to receive. Those who know Julie understand that she would give the shirt off her back for someone in need, and we believe it’s our turn to show her the same kindness.

I’m Jenny, Julie’s son’s wife, based in Tahoe, and I’m starting this fundraiser to help her get through this unimaginable time. My husband and I will be making ourselves available to Julie throughout this process to provide as much support as we can.
The funds raised here will help Julie secure housing, so she doesn’t have to worry about being unhoused while she takes the first steps toward restarting her life.
Your contribution will make a significant difference for Julie, helping her find comfort and security after so much loss. Together, we can show her the same care and generosity she has shown to others throughout her life.
Every donation counts, no matter the size. Thank you for helping Julie find hope and healing in this unimaginable time.
Thank you.
