Hemphill Family Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hello friends,

I’m here to ask for your support for a friend and co-worker, Joe and his 6 year old daughter, Harleigh. On Wednesday, May 10th, Harleigh was admitted into the Tacoma Mary Bridge Hospital after two previous trips to the emergency room for non-stop vomiting.

After being admitted, Harleigh’s condition worsened and she was placed in isolation at the ICU. Harleigh’s blood sugar had dropped below 50 and her body was thoroughly dehydrated. She began to vomit blood and despite the intake of fluids, her blood sugar remained very low.
Doctors continued work to find out what is causing Harleigh’s worsening condition and discovered that Harleigh’s bowels have stopped moving entirely. Anti-nausea medications have had no effect and due to her bowels shutting down, Harleigh had not been able to eat for several days.

As of yesterday, doctors performed a minor surgery to install a PICC placement line in order to get some nutrition into her viens. Today, doctors performed an EGD and also took several biopsies in order to try and determine what is causing Harliegh's condition. However, no official diagnosis has been discovered and Harleigh’s condition has not improved.  Tomorrow, Doctors will go for an NG placement as they don't want to place too much stress on Harleigh's body in a short amount of time.

Doctors at Mary Bridge are continuing to try and figure out what caused this sudden decline in health and how to reverse it.
Joe and his wife Liz have four other young children, one of which has chronic medical issues that also require ER visits, physical therapy and various other medical related costs. With Harleigh’s condition/diagnosis unknown, the Hemphill family is looking at more costly medical bills and loss of wages due to taking time off work to care for Harleigh and their four other children.

While Harleigh’s parents devote their time to her care, treatment and recovery, we have set up this fund to help alleviate the costs of Harleigh’s medical bills and wage loss for the Hemphill family. With Joe and Liz worrying over Harleigh’s care, we hope they won’t have to worry about the money.

All money raised will go directly to Joe and Liz to help their young family face the bills that come with Harleigh’s treatment as well as all the unanticipated costs that come from a long hospital stay.
We sincerely thank you for every dollar you are able to give as every little bit helps.
