THE Klusterfux band van got towed while we were onstage….
rather than starting a new fund raiser, I decided to just upcycle and repurpose this one. (The $495 (or whatever it says) that it says has been raised, as of this writing, was actually money raised for the previous repairs, and are not applied to this towing and impound fee, so just ignore that amount, as I said, Im reusing this fund raiser rather than the hassle of making a new one)
stupid story short: we parked in a reserved spot fully believing that it was ok to park there and not reserved after business hours. We were wrong, and some shitbag asshole had the van towed even though there were plenty of spots open. And of course the tow Nazis were big assholes about it, and I have to wait til tomorrow to get the van back (they can tow 24 hours a day, but can’t release a vehicle til “business hours”?)
well, it’s gonna cost $310 bucks to get the van back. (Increasing by godknows how much per day)
as if I really needed the extra stress and expense and embarrassment of being caught with my pants down, again, so to speak. And now needing to raise $310 more dollars. So here we are trying to buy my van back before it racks up huge “storage fee”. I am forever grateful to you all.
(picture is not our actual van being towed)
My van is broke, I am broke, my heart is broke, I am stuck in a dozen catch-22 situations.
I truly dislike having to come to you again with another fundraiser; I find it humiliating. But I am out of options, and so I humbly bow before you to ask for your sympathy and generosity.
My trusty van, a 25-year-old warhorse, has been very reliable, even with the problems and issues of an old van. But the water pump went out in Lawrence (luckily, I have a safe place to keep it for the time being), and it is beyond my abilities to fix it. I have located a mechanic in Lawrence who can fix it, and he has quoted me around $600 to fix it, which is about the going rate. I also need to get it towed from North Lawrence to his shop in South Lawrence.
This has been a very reliable van, but a bit of a gas guzzler. I would never be able to find and buy another vehicle for the $600 it will cost to fix this one. I believe it has many more miles left in it. I cannot be without a vehicle in my situation concerning my health and living situation. Topeka is just not a walkable city, and I need transportation to get to doctor's appointments and therapy appointments (still recovering from the stroke and other ailments).
This is also my band's main mode of transportation. Not that we're going off on any long tours anytime soon, but we need it for the gigs we play and to get me to and from practice.
And all of this happens right when I am moving out of the house I have lived in for the last 8 or so years into a new apartment across town. I am seriously paring down my possessions and belongings and trying to figure out what to do with a huge pile of crap. I have rented a U-Haul truck, but that gets expensive very quickly. I won't go into all the drama and craziness that has surrounded me in the last month; it's not all that interesting, but it sure has put a huge crimp in my ability to get things done not having this van! The expenses for moving have also got me capsized. That's why I am asking for $1500. All of these little expenses have added up to a pretty big chunk that's going to drag me down for months and months to come.
I very much appreciate everyone's help and support over the last couple of tumultuous years. IYKYK. I do not take it for granted at all. I am sure that once I get this move over with, settled into the new, much more manageable place, and have my van running again, I will be in a much better situation. And then I can get back to painting and making music.
(I do have paintings for sale on my website at:
If you see something there you like, please feel free to email me at <the email found on my website> and we can work out a purchase.)
(I also have a page with my Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal on it if you do not wish to donate through this GoFundMe platform:

Your help and generosity is so very important to me, and it is never taken for granted. I truly appreciate every last dime.
Please help me get my van fixed and back on the road, and get my life back on track.
