The Holland Family are a well known family in our local community. Matt, Amanda and their boys Jack (15yrs) and Kai (12yrs) have always been actively involved in fundraising for local scools, clubs and charities, helping others and donating their time and energy where ever it is needed, always putting themselves last.
Over the last year Amanda and Matt have incurred huge medical expenses and suffered from the enormous emotional toll that any parent sufffers watching their child battle a serious health condition. Thankfully last week the Holland family received news that their son's medical condition was in remission.
It's Amanda's birthday tomorrow, Matt surprised her with a well deserved night away up the central coast last night, leaving both boys at home with their grandma for the evening.
At 3am this morning the house the Hollands have called home for many years went up in flames, the neighbours were out in the street desperately trying to get them out. To their releif and in what could only be called a miracle Jack managed to get his brother and grandma out of the house before it was completely engulfed.
This family have everything because they have each other but they have lost every material thing ever owned - all that is left are the clothes on their back and a small overnight bag. They had no insurance of thier own and now have no where to live.
In a few short hours we have seen the community come together with donations of clothes, school uniforms, offers of help, meals and furniture but what really need is money. Money to cover medical expenses, rental bond, and basically start their life over again.
Matt is self employed and has lost his tools and car, without replacing these he has no income.
I am a close family friend also residing in Cromer and have known the Hollands since our children started school together in 2006. I have both witnessed and recieved the kindness and giving spirit this family shares with all around them, from friends to complete strangers in need.
All proceeds from this gofundme account will go directly to Matt and Amanda's personal account and used to assist in re establishing their home and supporting their family including a child with a serious and newly diagnosed medical condition.
