Sherry's Cancer Fight-No Insurance
Donation protected
My short story...my name is Sherry and I currently live in Brownwood Texas. I do not have any medical insurance and I currently have zero income. I was told by the local Emergency Room doctor that I have a mass in my abdomen*. I am trying to raise money to pay for gas to get urgent medical treatment in Temple and money for prescriptions. I am reaching out to friends, family and strangers asking for any help that anyone can spare me. If you choose to or cannot donate, please I ask that you just click SHARE on Facebook or any other social media. A Share is just as precious to me as a donation. Thank you so much for reading! ********************************************* My story... if you would like to know more... Last year I had to resign from my $10/hour customer service job because I was too sick and in too much pain to drive the 186 mile commute each day, from Comanche to McGregor. I had limited insurance then and was diagnosed with Uterine cancer and had surgery to resolve it. After follow-up they said everything "looked good". The insurance ended shortly after that. Recently I have been feeling very sick. Severe abdominal pain sent me to the local ER where they ran a few tests. I was told that I have a cancerous mass in my abdomen. I was also told I am experiencing a prolonged Gallstone attack (over 3 weeks so far!). They will not do gallbladder surgery until I see an Oncologist for the mass. I was sent home with Tylenol. I have not been able to see the Oncologist in town, due to not having insurance, I fear they are "dragging their feet" :( They have not given me an appointment yet. Although I am applying for Indigent Care (insurance) and/or Disability, possibly with Medicaid, the process has been slow. Do to the excruciating pain, and out of desperation, I have been back to the local ER for help with pain control but they generally and quickly send me away. I will try to seek treatment through the larger hospital in Temple and their recommended cancer specialists. It is 120 miles one way (everything is far in Central Texas!). A sister will donate the use of her time and car to transport me. We do not have gas money for the trip/s there. I also am struggling to get basic prescriptions of antibiotics, pain medication and anti-nausea medications filled. Again, any help is appreciated and a SHARE is precious. Thank you for checking in and reading my story. I have beat back cancer once before and I know with help and support I can do this again! Thank you! <3 Sherry
