My name is Tracy, and I am writing on behalf of my brother, Scott, and his family. I never imagined that my brother would find himself in this position, but we are reaching out with humility and hope.
My brother is 54 years old and lives with Diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. He dedicated over 21 years of his life working as a Local 73/265 Sheet Metal Worker—a physically demanding trade that he took great pride in. Unfortunately, as his medical conditions have progressed, his body no longer allows him to continue working safely. His last day of work was April 20, 2024. He is currently appealing the denial of his disability claim and is still waiting to be assigned a hearing date.
While he waits, his family’s situation has become critical. Life has become a constant struggle for Scott, his wife, and their two daughters. As his sister, it has been heartbreaking to watch him battle serious health challenges while also being let down by the very system meant to help people in situations like his. They were thrown a devastating curveball and have exhausted every form of financial assistance available to them, along with their personal savings, retirement funds, and 401(k). Bills continue to pile up, and they are now facing the very real possibility of losing their home.
I am reaching out as a last resort to ask for any assistance, guidance, or support that may be available for my brother and his family. If you are not in a position to help financially, I completely understand and would be deeply grateful if you would consider sharing their story.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any kindness, understanding, or support you may be able to offer. It truly means more to our family than words can express.
