Robert Nolan’s Medical Expenses

Update from Robert:
8-7-2020 Update: I am back at KU Med Center for a 3rd round of chemotherapy treatment in order to keep me in remission. We have encountered unforeseen delays in getting my bone marrow transplant. I found out today we will be paying for lodging with my insurance possibly covering some of that expense (maybe half). We are anticipating a stay of 75 days in an extended stay hotel. I am required to reside in the Kansas City area for 100 days post bone marrow transplant. Our share is looking at around $5,750.00 for lodging, excluding food for that time. With medical bills and Rx copays, we have exceeded $9,900.00 out of pocket expenses to date, this excludes travel to KC. Those whom have donated towards my go fund me, I am ever grateful. It has made it easier to focus on beating this Leukemia and returning back to what I love and that’s being a care provider. Even if it’s $10, $20, every bit helps. I never thought I would have to ask for help. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Much love and gratitude. ~Robert.
Below is his initial story and why we; his family have this GoFundMe campaign going.
06-07-2020 Two weeks ago, I was suffering from a severe headache with profound light sensitivity and neck stiffness and a few other symptoms. My mind was convincing me of possible meningitis. I sat on the fence most of the day that Saturday in hopes my interventions at home would help me feel better + I had a small Turkey on the smoker for Patrick’s and I dinner, that I didn’t wanna miss out on. We ate dinner and I looked at Patrick and told him, I think I’m going to need to go to the hospital. “This” isn’t getting any better. He pretty much put a better timeline of events from there than I could.
Fast forward to today, day 14 of my treatment. I completed the first round of chemotherapy for Leukemia of my type (AML) and have been on a second round until day 21. I have been receiving platelets and occasionally PRBC (packed red blood cells) to sustain my blood levels. I am being crossmatch for bone marrow transplant when that time comes in the next step of my care plan.
All the messages and texts I receive have been uplifting and recharge my drive to fight this each day. I run out of energy fast, so I try and respond to personal messages when I can.
So many of you ask, what you can do to help. I cannot stress enough, first and foremost, Donate Blood!!!, it has saved my life to this point already. Additionally, I know the medical bills after all this are going to be beyond my expectations. I appreciate any and all donations from those of you who feel inclined to offer! I’m grateful and humbled for your willingness to help alleviate some stress from my life as I proceed down this unplanned path. Thank you and God Bless you all!
I’m going to go sit by my window and finish watching the sun rise, much love to you all.
