It's hard to tell you this, but Buranko Cafe needs your help.
Our new spot opened earlier just this year, a sister space from Phat Cart Cafe. Buranko welcomed staff meetings, happy hour meet-ups, and couples came to enjoy righteous food and a memorable atmosphere. Young families and dual parents could catch up while toddlers were entertained in the cozy play area –
Just over two months and it seems the world has changed so much.
Stay at home. Social distance. Take out only.
COVID would be a minor set back. Masked behind hope, we created pre order dinner date night boxes which helped take the edge off a staggering rent payment. We prepared for the much anticipated Phase 1 reopening and things were looking up. Until last night. The riots made their way like a tornado, wrecking landmarks, morale, and small business around our city.
A senseless stone was thrown through the glass window and has left Buranko shattered. Vandals entered in stealing liquor, delivery app tablets and the POS system.
Saving this cafe is more than securing a space to eat food – it's about sending a message to our community, to ourselves.
