Dear Friends and Family,
On Wednesday our baby Puja severed her cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) in right rear leg. This debilitating injury was acute in its onset and has long term affects on her active lifestyle. Currently she is lame and struggling just to go out and pee. She cannot run, play, hike or do any of her normal daily activities at this time.

We brought Puja to her regular vet and then visited with an orthopedic surgeon. Both agreed that the best solution for Puja is to have a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) procedure. I will spare you all the gory details but it is traumatic and invasive to say the least (bone cutting, metal plates etc. etc) with a recovery period of 8 weeks+.

The estimated cost of the initial surgery is $4300, then the aftercare including, after surgery re-checks, pain management and some physical therapy, is estimated to exceed $5500.

The only positive we can pull from this is that it is NOT life threatening and this procedure does not need to be done "tomorrow". However, like all things of this nature, the sooner we can do it the better the long-term results are.

Our goal is to save and raise enough funds for Puja to have this procedure done in mid July. This time frame allows Angel and I to take the necessary time off from work to manage her first couple weeks at home after surgery. As Puja is a winter lover we are hoping that she can be up and runing again by the time the snow flies.

We understand that not all of you have had the opportunity to meet our girl Puja but those who have fall in love. Not only is she a beautiful canine on the outside her personality and heart matches her looks. She is a titled Canine Good Citizen, walks for fundraising causes such as Fidelco and cancer awareness. She brings smiles and eases tensions when she walks into an office full of customer service reps. She has even been an honorary mascot for a local t-ball team and marched proudly in the opening day parade.
