Player and Tissy Fit are two horses rescued from a horrible situation where they survived unimaginable neglect. Tissy Fit, a retired racehorse from the lineage of Secretariat, and Player were left starving, dehydrated, and suffering from open wounds, worms, overgrown teeth, stomach ulcers, rain rot and more.

For years, they endured pain and hunger, with no fresh water, lack of proper shelter and care and little hope for survival. When their owner was hospitalized, neighbors were able to get on property and realized the depth of abuse and were able to step in, determined to save them from a slow, painful death.

Not being familiar with horses, the journey to save Player and Tissy Fit was filled with challenges and emotional ups and downs. But with the help of a caring horse community, they managed to pull off a true miracle. These two beautiful souls have fought through the worst and got through it… and now on a wonderful road to recovery and so very loved. It is a real-life tale of Black Beauty … and they finally get to see the love and compassion of humans.

The cost of their recovery has been enormous, but every effort has been worth it. Like the story of the boy saving starfish on the beach, saving these two horses may not change the world, but it means everything to Player and Tissy Fit. Animal control became involved, and under pressure; their previous owner sold them to avoid having to pay for their needs.

Today, Player and Tissy Fit are safe in a loving place, learning what kindness feels like and beginning to trust again. They still need ongoing veterinary care, specialized feed, supplements, hoof and dental care, and continued medical treatment to heal and to live their senior years in comfort.
