Help David (Pete) Peterson Fight Cancer!

Donation protected
This crowd-funding request is for David (Pete) Peterson. To us, his family and friends, it is with deep sadness, love and admiration in our hearts, that we make this humble request to you. Our husband, father, grand-father, son, brother, uncle, grand-uncle and dear friend has been afflicted with what has become for him a painful and terminal disease. Please know that he has been a dedicated and loyal family man and friend. He is a selfless, kind, caring and giving man who has touched the lives of many people in many positive ways. During his 54 years of life, he has been a hard-working man who, at the time he was diagnosed, worked two jobs, construction full-time weekdays and janitorial/maintenance part-time weekends, 7 days per week, averaging 60 hours per week. Even so, he still found time to gather up his grand-kids and grand-nephews every other weekend and take them to the park, go fishing, play basketball, and most importantly, be a positive mentor to them in the same way his own grandfather showed him how to conduct himself as a family man.

Despite the prayers and sincere hopes of we, his loved ones, our hearts hurt to know how far the disease has continued to debilitate David. In October 2017, David was diagnosed with stage 4 (metastatic) prostate cancer. Since December 2017, he has been treated with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and hormonal therapy -- every possible treatment. Despite these treatments, David's cancer has continued to spread over the past year into his pelvis, spine, both sides of his rib cage and into his sternum. David endures extreme, constant and daily pain. Though he continues to be treated for his cancer, and uses powerful pain pills to manage his chronic pain, there is no real relief. Those who personally know him realize he will try to hide his pain, anxiety, frustration, and difficulties (physical, emotional, and financial) that he encounters while enduring this debilitating disease. That is why those of us who care deeply for David decided to start this crowd-funding resource in order to help him with the never-ending costs for his transportation, personal care assistance, and alternative medicinal treatments to fight his cancer, and for pain management which his insurance does not cover. This sincere request is also to help him with mounting medical bills that we know only add to his anxiety and stress levels, which fuel the growth of more cancer cells.

David has not been able to work since he was diagnosed. He now receives SSDI, and it is less than 75% of what he took home working his jobs. He spent his entire life savings waiting 6 months to be paid by the Social Security Administration, and received no back pay, which left him in extreme financial debt and stress.

David gives so much of himself to others, and is the type of person you have to force to take or receive any kind of help. He will even tell you "he is too proud for his own good". That, and numerous other reasons, is why we who love and care for him are asking you to join us in helping him. Any assistance you are able to provide will help him to receive the best and most promising treatments to make him physically comfortable. It will also help to relieve some of his financial stress by paying down his mounting bills.

Whatever you feel comfortable in giving will make a major difference in his quality of life, and will be greatly appreciated. Please donate what you are able. We thank you from our hearts for your kindness!

With much love and respect,

The loving and devoted family and friends of David (Pete) Peterson
