Help Pete Beat Cancer.

I'm Kris, and I’m reaching out to share the heartbreaking situation my parents, Pete and Lucy, are facing. Both in their mid-60s, they have so much more to give, yet they find themselves in an unimaginable struggle.

My dad has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer (squamous cell), affecting the tube connecting to his stomach. For the past two to three months, he has been unable to eat anything without choking, relying solely on fluids. Even those sometimes get stuck, as his esophagus is severely blocked by the tumor.

Despite his relentless efforts to seek help, my dad's symptoms were initially dismissed by medical professionals. After countless tests, hospital visits, and misdiagnoses, he received the devastating news this week. He is now starting daily radiotherapy and chemotherapy for the next five weeks.

There is hope in a new treatment that is meant to have a better success rate aswel as other medical methods we could potentially look to explore. We are doing everything we can to support him during this time, but we can’t do it alone.

The negligence of the NHS in handling both my dad's and my mum's illnesses has left us frightened and desperate for better care. My mum, Lucy, is a kidney transplant patient living with diabetes, requiring daily dialysis whilst on the transplant list for a new Kindey. Over the years, she has faced numerous health challenges, including a heart attack following a COVID vaccination and complications from a growing lump near her liver. Despite multiple hospital visits and tests, the issue was overlooked until my dad's research finally shed light on the problem and then the NHS started to act on the issue.

With my dad’s health declining, he can no longer provide the care my mum desperately needs. While he undergoes treatment in Hampstead, my mum will be at Barnet every other day for her dialysis. We will seek to get in private careers to look after them both daily.

They both deserve the best support during this incredibly difficult time. I am fundraising not only for my dad’s treatment options outside the NHS but also to improve their living situation.

It’s essential that my mum is safe and not at risk of further illness, especially as my dad begins his cancer treatments. My sister and I work and have our own families, making it hard for us to be there every day. They have three grandchildren who adore them, and we all want to ensure they have more time together to watch them grow. My parents have always been there for us, and now it’s our turn to help them.

Your support will provide the necessary medical care and adjustments to their living arrangements, allowing my dad to focus on healing and giving my mum peace of mind. Any contribution, no matter how small, will have a meaningful impact. Thank you for considering helping my family during this incredibly tough time.
