Help Our Friend Jimmy

On Sunday, June 12, 2016, our beloved friend, son, brother, uncle, and boyfriend suffered a tragic swimming accident after diving into unknowingly shallow water. Thanks to the help of his girlfriend Cara, Jimmy was immediately rushed to the Southside ICU in critical condition where he was diagnosed with a broken neck, as well as extensive spinal cord injuries. Presently, Jimmy is paralyzed from the shoulders down and is not able to breathe on his own. He has since pulled through a collapsed lung and was transferred to Stony Brook trauma ICU where he can receive top of the line care for his injuries. Although an exact future prognosis is not 100 percent confirmed at this time, we do know that regardless of the outcome, Jimmy will need continued quality care and rehabilitation for the long road ahead.
As dear friends of Jimmy and Cara, our hearts are broken for the Finnigan and Walsh families and we wanted to do something to help. After being asked "how can we help?" by many friends and family, we are starting this page to raise money for Jimmy and his family. The emotional burden is enough to worry about and we would love to ease the financial burden that is to come.
If any of you know Jimmy, he is the first friend to be there for anyone in need. He would give anyone who needed his help the shirt off of his own back, and this is the least we can do for him in a time where he needs it the most. Jimmy is the hardest working person we know and thankfully Jimmy has an excellent Union job - but at some point his health insurance will run out and his medical and rehabilitation bills will start piling up. There will be extensive continued care in this healing process including hospital bills, physical therapy, wheelchairs, transfer modalities and house modifications, all of which will be incredibly expensive. No donation, kind word, or prayer is too small.
If anyone could pull through and fight this, it is going to be our Jimmy. Every cent raised will go directly to Jimmy's care. Anything in excess will be donated on behalf of Help Our Friend Jimmy to various charities and research foundations.
