Nick loving Kelly.

Meet Nick NOW

One day after Spinal Fusion Surgery. Months after fighting insurance companies. Years after living in constant, debilitating pain.

NICK’S STORY

In 2011, Nicholaus “Diablo” Hoover’s back problems began. An initial MRI revealed a herniated disc, which was successfully treated with 4-months of physical therapy. Then, in January of 2017, while performing an A/V installation, Nick tore one disc and crushed two more. This debilitating injury to his spine brought Nick’s life to a halt.  Physical therapy was not effective. A medial branch block did not help either. He tried steroid shots, then finally an RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation) where they burned part of his nerve tissue in attempt to decrease the pain signals. For a year, the RFA provided Nick some relief, but unfortunately, it did not last.

Since the pain has returned, Nick has been at the mercy of insurance companies, forced to follow their ineffective pain management plans. Ultimately, this has led to months of devastating pain, leaving Nick 90% bedridden with no quality of life.

Finally, a pain specialist referred Nick to a surgeon. An MRI revealed a deteriorating spinal disorder. For any hope of quality of life, Nick required Spinal Fusion Surgery. After another round of brutal fights with the insurance companies, Nick was finally able to schedule his surgery. On December 21st Nick underwent a successful vertebrae fusion. During the surgery they bolted three vertebrae together which should allow the bones to heal as one.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR NICK

Nick's road to recovery will not be easy. He will need to spend a minimum of 12-weeks immobile while his bones begin to fuse. Then, he'll begin months of rigorous physical therapy. While in recovery, Nick will not be able to work. Kelly will be both the only breadwinner and caregiver.

NICK AND KELLY NEED OUR HELP

For those of you who know Nick and Kelly, you know they are kind, generous friends. They give, and give, and give, and never expect anything in return. This is our opportunity to give back to these amazing humans.

We are aiming to raise a minimum of $5,000 to help aid Nick's recovery.

Nick has already lost a tremendous amount of work. The medical bills have left Nick and Kelly in debt and financially unstable. In the coming months, Kelly will be forced to pick up extra shifts in order to make ends meet instead of focusing her time and energy on helping Nick heal. The funds we raise will help cover Nick's medical expenses and loss of income and will hopefully help alleviate some of their financial burden .

Thank you so much for helping support these wonderful friends. No donation amount is too small.

Please spread the word by sharing our campaign so we can maximize the love!
