Essential Worker’s Fire Relief Fund

We have reached our $10,000 goal and Nani wants to encourage anyone else who wants to donate to support the other front line workers in need and those organizations that are helping with meals and supplies.

A dear family friend, Nani Gurgenidze just lost everything when her apartment was destroyed by a fire on May 4, 2020.

Nani is a phlebotomist who works tirelessly on the front lines in the ER of JFK hospital during this Coronavirus pandemic. She takes her job very seriously and always try's to accommodate her employer when asked to work extra shifts and help provide coverage when they are short staffed.

I have known Nani, her son Luka and mom Liana for many years.  Liana was the caretaker for my grandma for 11 years and in that time all three have become part of our family.
Nani is a single mom putting her son Luka through college (he just started at my alma mater Montclair University) and along with working full time in the ER she also works as a caretaker to help ends meet. As busy as she is she has boundless energy and is one of the most positive people I have ever met. (She is also very proud and it took some "arm-twisting"  by my Aunt for her to agree to this fundraiser.)

Nani lost everything in the fire, including cherished items that simply cannot be replaced (books of poetry her dad wrote to her mom) and needs help in replacing things that can. The money will be used to purchase bedding, clothing, housewares, appliances, furniture - all the necessities to get her life back on track.

I understand that this is an unprecedented time in our country and many of you are facing economic hardships as well...but if you can afford to donate please know that your money is going to a hard working person who is generous with her support and love and working everyday to keep the people in her community healthy and safe.
