Since 2007 the Musicians' Acupuncture Project  (MAP)  Community Clinic has provided low-cost, sliding scale care to musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area.  I am Amy Hanks, a Licensed Acupuncturist and the founder and sole proprietor of MAP.

My passion for music led me to establish the MAP Clinic with the simple goal of helping all musicians reach their peak creativity free of the physical challenges many of them face.

Since its inception, the MAP Clinic  has given thousands of treatments to Bay Area musicians for a range of conditions including neck, shoulder, arm, wrist and hand pain, low back pain, stress, fatigue, insomnia and a host of other conditions.

MAP clientele has included musicians and employees of the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Jazz Center. Clientele has also included faculty, staff and students of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, California Jazz Conservatory and San Francisco Community Music Center, as well as gigging musicians of every genre imaginable from classical to singer-songwriters to Latin and North Indian rhythms to the far-out, funked out and uncategorizable!!!

The Coronavirus pandemic and social distancing orders required the temporary closure of this vibrant business in mid-March 2020, but we are determined to bounce back and re-open as soon as the situation allows! 

The biggest challenge is rent for my San Francisco and North Bay clinics to ride out the pandemic. If that doesn't work out, I'll need security deposits, as well as first and last month's rent + moving costs in order to re-open after this is over. 

In the meantime there are other bills to pay.  These include but are not limited to restocking the herbal formulas many of my patients are requesting that I ship to them, maintaining my website and my Genbook online scheduling account, phone bills, etc.

I am aware there are loans being made available to some small businesses. As a small, privately-run project providing sliding-scale care to musicians I can't take on debt in uncertain times to make sure the Musicians Acupuncture Project bounces back.  Resilience and community are the keys!

MAP receives no outside funding. We need your support to weather this storm.  Please give as generously as you can, and be sure to share this campaign with your friends, family and fans.  Every donation is appreciated and every amount helps!
