On 0ctober 29, 2018 my mother Brenda Battle had a very unexpected Stroke. With no previous health issues or warnings that something like this may occur, it flipped her life and the lives of my siblings upside down.  As some of you may know my mom was a very charismatic, fun , loving, outgoing, and very independent woman! The first two months were spent in hospitals and were very scary. My mom lost her ability to talk, walk, use the restroom, and even eat on her own. The Doctors at the initial hospital she was brought to could only tell us that her brain was bleeding, however they didnt know why or if it would even stop. I REFUSED to except that as an answer and fought like hell to get her transferred to Cornell Hospital. There they found the cause and treated her appropriately and the road to recovery begin. We transferred again to NYU rehabilitation facility and I am blessed and fortunate to say that with sheer resilience  Ms. Brenda is back home. She is not 100% and still has to go to outpatient therapy, but home none the less. So I have decided to start a Gofundme in order to  help support my mother through this extremely difficult time. This fund is to assist in getting her back to being as independent as possible, for she will no longer be able to work and has to retire. I wish I could say the money will be going towards a retirement party and a well deserved vacation to some tropical island. However the reality is my mother just bought a house and  the mortgage has to get paid, as well as all of the bills that come with it.  SS disability takes quite some time to kick in and money is tight across the board for us all.  So please whether you know my mom, know of her or do not know her at all, any contribution, big or small, will greatly impact the long road to recovery& independence.
