Help support my mom through her battle with ALS

Donation protected
8/01/24 my mom passed away at 4:58am. She stayed for her birthday the day before and left while me and my dad held her hands. I'll keep this go fund me up just for help with funeral and cremation costs. Thank you all that loved my mom, know that she loved all of you.

Hi my name is Ashley, and I started this fundraiser for my mom Mary Ann Ditta Helton, who was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease ) early last year. Over this year ALS has taken away almost all things we take for granted from my mother. She can no longer walk on her own, write, talk, or even eat. Her hands don't work like they use to but she can still use her finger to type a text on a phone. She's had a lot thrown at her from this disease but we are grateful to God that my mom can still laugh, which is still contagious when you hear it, and smile.

My mother is a tough cookie and she is not going to go quietly, she wants to fight for as long as she is able. This is why we need help to not only afford a ramp for our van for her powered wheelchair, but also the locks, and all the changes we are having to make to our trailer so my mom is able to get around in her wheelchair and be safe. This also includes a new roof for the house since ours is damaged and causing multiple leaks.

Trying to stay one step ahead of ALS is difficult, and as the only child it has become hard to keep up with expenses, new medical equipment, and new bills. I just want my mom to be able to relax and me and my dad also not have to worry so we can all enjoy what time we have left together as a family.

My mom always put everyone else first and has always helped take care of relatives as well as her own mother and my dad's. It's now time for her to receive help and care, and that's why I need everyone's help to make sure I can do this.

Those that know my mom have always ended up thinking of her as their own. She welcomed everyone always with a smile and called you hun. She always made sure you were fed and had a place to stay. Even if it was the first time meeting you, she treated you like family.

So please if you are able to help us, even just a dollar, me and my family would appreciate it. I don't like asking for help but I can not do this alone.

The 4k is what was quoted for the ramp and locks from Mobility works, I am still trying to find anywhere that maybe cheaper but the ramp is the most important right now. After that all funds will go to her medical equipment and changes to house ( railing, wider doors, wet room, etc so her electric wheelchair will fit). The rest is to fix our roof and get rid of all the mold caused from the leaks.
