My 11-year-old dog Maisie is in pain, and I can’t afford to get her the care she needs.
After slipping on the ice, her condition has been getting worse, and I’m running out of options to help her.
A few weeks ago, Maisie slipped on the ice during a bad storm, and since then she hasn’t been the same.
What started as a small limp has gotten worse, and now she’s clearly in pain. She tries to keep weight off her leg, struggles to stand after laying down, and sometimes even trips. I’m doing everything I can to help her move safely, but she’s stubborn, she always has been, and she still tries to push through it.
Maisie (or “Maisie Moo,” as I call her) is 11 years old and has been my best friend since I brought her home from the humane society at just 6 months old. I wasn’t even there to adopt a dog, but I saw her playing in a kiddie pool outside, and that was it. I was sold immediately.
She’s always been goofy, stubborn, and full of personality. She refuses to go outside in the rain like the little diva she is, protests getting out of bed in the morning (I literally have to pull the blankets off her), and somehow manages to make me laugh every single day.
She’s also the kind of dog who loves people, whether it’s strangers on the street, a crowd outside a bar on St. Patrick’s Day, or even the staff at the vet. She just wants attention and love from everyone.
And now she’s not herself.
Her potty breaks used to be 15 to 20 minutes because she loved walking around and smelling everything. Now I miss seeing her happy and curious outside. Instead, I’m watching her struggle just to stand up.
On top of that, she already has a history of leg issues. She’s had two surgeries on one knee in the past, and now this injury is affecting the opposite front leg while she’s already dealing with age-related weakness in her back legs. It’s a lot for her, and I know she needs help.
I’ve been dealing with financial struggles for the past 10 months and have already sold everything I can to try to stay afloat. At this point, the only things I have left are what I need to keep working. Even just getting initial X-rays, which can cost $250 to $500, is out of reach right now, let alone medication or the very real possibility of surgery.
That’s why I’m asking for help.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward Maisie’s care, including vet visits, X-rays, medication, and any treatment or surgery she may need to be comfortable again.
If you’re able to donate, share this, or help in any way at all, it would truly mean everything to me.
I just want my goofy, stubborn, blanket-stealing, rain-hating girl to be happy and pain-free again.
Thank you for taking the time to read Maisie’s story ❤️
