Help Liam Be Brain Tumor Free!
Two days ago our world was drastically turned upside down with the sudden and abrupt discovery that our son, Liam, has a large tumor in the middle of his brain. Watching helplessly as your child fights for their life is the most agonizing heartbreak we have ever felt. Many have reached out with positive uplifting stories of full recoveries from similar circumstances that we focus on to give us hope for the same for our precious boy! To say the successful outcome of this journey is a very long, difficult one is a vast understatement! When you pair it with the astronomical financial obligation created you can not help but feel an immense strain. The ask for financial donations is a very hard thing for us to request, but the absolute need to do anything and everything we can for Liam vs. the inevitable monetary hardship is a reality crossroad that we are facing. Please help if you can or share if a donation is not possible and continue to send prayer and positivity his way! Thank you so much!+ Read More
We finally met with the Neuro-Oncology team yesterday. Liam has a Tectal Glioma which is typically a small and slow growing tumor. However, in Liam’s case the characteristics and progression of his tumor do not match that description. The doctors described his case as very rare due to the size of his tumor and it causing the large mid-brain stroke that damaged his left thalamus resulting in left side paralysis, hydrocephalus and vision impairment. They are unable to operate on the rest of the tumor because it is embedded into critical areas of his brain so the next steps will be 6 weeks of Radiation Therapy and 6-8 weeks of in-patient rehabilitation once his EVD can be taken out hopefully in the next day or so. His Doctor’s are optimistic that after treatment the tumor will not return and that he will have improvement in his left side mobility. Liam’s spirits are good and he currently occupies the waking hours of his day with Speech/OT/PT, listening to audio books and trying to eat as much ice cream as we will allow him to eat! Please keep Liam in your thoughts and prayers through this next challenging phase to have the strength and resilience needed to work hard and beat this!!
We are still waiting for Liam’s biopsy results, they are expected back tomorrow. Liam will be having another surgery in this week to treat his hydrocephalus. Will keep everyone updated when that is when we know. Thank you for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers! ❤️
Liam is recovering well and we are anxiously awaiting the biopsy results! Thank you all for the prayers that have gotten him through a successful surgery!
Liam is resting and recovering in his room in the ICU after surgery. The Dr. said it went well and they were able to remove some tumor and clot along with the biopsy. Thank you all for your prayers today while our baby was in surgery, I know it made all the difference! ❤️
