It’s Keirra’s birthday!! And If you know Keirra Hall, you know her as a fierce light in the world — a two-spirit, Black and Indigenous community leader, tech guru, Japanese Reiki Shihan, disability justice advocate, DJ, and documentary filmmaker who pours her heart into uplifting others. For over a decade, she’s been using her talents and skills to empower senior citizens, people with disabilities, and marginalized communities, making sure technology and stories remain tools for connection, independence, justice and healing.
But right now, Keirra needs our help.

A Decade of Health Battles :
In 2015, Keirra’s life was forever changed when she collapsed twice on the BART train and required a double blood transfusion. She was diagnosed with severe Gastroparesis — a chronic illness that paralyzes the stomach muscles, making it nearly impossible to digest most foods. It causes constant nausea, frequent vomiting, and dangerous bouts of malnutrition and dehydration. Over the past 10 years, Keirra has endured countless surgeries and procedures, leaving her weak and unable to sustain full-time work.
Never one to give up, Keirra pivoted. In 2016, she earned her certification in software engineering and launched her own tech business “Dark Unicorn Designs and Technologies“ to help senior citizens and people with disabilities access and adapt technology for their accessibility needs. She’s helped dozens of people become more independent and connected — all while battling daily illness.

Setbacks and Resilience :
In 2018, Keirra was in a serious car accident that caused lasting nerve and muscle damage down her right side. She continued pushing forward — DJing for community events, producing powerful films that document disability resistance movements, and working with organizations from Sacramento to Washington D.C., with her footage even appearing on CBS News.

But this year has brought devastating challenges. Recently, Keirra passed out again on the BART train, injuring her head, knee, and back. She has been in a wheelchair for over a month. This, combined with ongoing health challenges and a difficult divorce, has left her unable to earn enough income to cover rent, bills, and basic needs. Keirra wants nothing more than to heal and return to her work — bringing good vibes through music, documenting movements for justice, and helping people live more connected lives. But right now, she needs community support to get there.

Why We’re Asking for Your Help
Keirra has dedicated her life to helping others — now it’s our turn to help her heal, survive, and keep sharing her gifts with the world. Your contribution will help cover:

Rent & essential bills so she can keep a roof over her head
Medical expenses & self-care to support recovery and chronic illness management
Mobility & accessibility needs for day-to-day independence
Stability so she can continue her work uplifting communities
Attorney’s Fees to help navigate divorce proceedings

Keirra’s spirit is unshakable — but no one should have to fight this hard alone. By supporting her, you’re not just helping one person; you’re helping ensure she can continue empowering others, sharing joy through music, and giving voice to stories that need to be heard.

Keirra has spent her life lifting others up — through the deep pulse of a bassline, the warmth of a Reiki session, or the click of a camera capturing a story the world needs to hear. Now it’s our turn to lift her.

Please donate what you can and share this campaign widely. Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.
Let’s show Keirra the same love and support she’s shown to so many.
