Help Joey beat Acute Myeloid Leukaemia
Hey, my name is Chris and I'm fundraising for our friend Joey; his wife Jess, three year old son Cooper and the next unborn edition to their family unit; yet to be named but due in Christmas of 2021.
Joey is unequivocally one of the nicest guys you could meet, and friends we have. His kind heart and generous nature is always at 100% towards anyone he meets. Ourselves, our kids and our greater families are all lifted in his presence, (and so too are our self perceived motorcycle riding skills), living a full life is what he should be doing right into retirement.
I personally have had the privilege of being his best man at their wedding and Godparent to his son Cooper. If you have Joey in your life - You have life, laughs and fun along the way, and Jess and Cooper have completed him wholeheartedly.
In the last week Joey (aged 33) as a result of Rhino Flu not clearing - has just been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia diagnosed after a routine blood test.
Joey is now in hospital in Sydney for the next 5 weeks undergoing heavy Chemotherapy. A joker and a light hearted smart arse he's taking this situation in his stride with nothing but positivity. He's even taken to pole dancing in the few days he's been hospitalised; and he’s lost weight whilst doing it. The nurses are loving his presence in a refreshing jovial way!
This fundraiser is to support him and his family in his times of need; as he would do for one one of us, medical, income, bills, kids, fees and food.
We understand there are many people out there asking for help via fundraisers and charities that it often becomes overwhelming, never-ending and a burden on who to help and when.
However - this is Joey - and he'd be the first person to jump to assist you selflessly and without anything expected in return.
There are other ways people could assist with cooking cleaning and the like - however worst case we hope we don't need to get to - is a potential bone marrow match.
Its our time.
