Jason was just a normal American and University of Florida Alum working at a small accounting firm in 2021, always there to help a neighbor and genuinely made it his mission to make everyone laugh. That was one of his big goals each day. At the end of 2021, at age 32, he started experiencing muscle tremors. These seemed manageable for months, until it progressed into what several doctors and hospitals diagnosed as cervical dystonia. Similar to Parkinson’s, this causes severe uncontrollable muscle twisting of the neck and spine that is extremely painful and leaves him 100% disabled. It has gotten so much worse this year, as he has had to quit his job of 8 years, and finds it impossible to take care of himself. He has to hold his head with both hands to keep from twisting 24/7. The simple act of eating or brushing his teeth, putting on a shirt, or opening a yogurt leaves him gasping for air as his neck twists like an owl, clenching his throat, spine, jaw and head. He can’t bend or look down. None of the several treatments have worked. He has lost 20 pounds and is bedridden.
Several medical interventions , prescriptions and injections have shown no improvement. His goal now is to try an expensive brain surgery at the University of Florida. This is likely his only chance at a normal life. He has signed up for Social Security, but they mentioned it may take up to two years if it even gets approved.
Please help Jason, keep him in your thoughts and prayers, help if you have any treatment advice, and if you can, please donate. Any amount contributes greatly to Jason’s long-term care. He needs constant help and house care, and has ran out of his savings hoping he would have had a successful treatment by now. These funds would go toward:
- travel and medical care
- brain surgery/drugs
- rent and food
- home care and assistance
Thank you for anything you were able to do. Thank you for reading this. Thank you for taking the time to have Jason in your thoughts. We are super grateful. Please have a beautiful day.
