We are reaching out to our community, friends, and family with a request for support for our beloved cousin and her amazing daughter, Skylyn. On December 18, our cousin, January, was awakened in the middle of the night by a stranger pounding on her door and yelling that there was a fire. In a panic, she grabbed her daughter and dog and ran outside to find her car engulfed in flames.
Her car had been set on fire just outside her daughter’s bedroom window. Authorities later confirmed that a serial arsonist lit the fire.
January is a hardworking single mother who had just finished paying off her $20,000 car last month. That car was her lifeline. She relies on a vehicle every day for her 2-hour commute.
To make an already devastating situation worse:
- Her insurance company informed her that none of the damage would be covered
- She is now without transportation, through no fault of her own
January works at a school and depends on a reliable car to:
- Get her daughter to and from school safely
- Manage a daily two-hour commute to and from work
- Provide for her family
- Handle basic daily needs, raising her child
Her community is coming together to support her during this incredibly difficult moment. We are hoping to raise enough money to help January purchase a safe, modest, and reliable used car. It’s about restoring stability, safety, and peace of mind for this family. We are kindly asking you to donate.
- Any amount, no matter how small, will make a real difference
- If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page helps more than you know
Thank you for taking the time to read January’s story and for showing kindness, compassion, and support when it’s needed most.
Happy and safe holidays, everyone!
With deepest gratitude,
Family and Friends of January Villarreal and Skylyn
