Two weeks ago we rescued this sweet girl, White Iverson (Ivy) from being dumped on the street. She came to our door scared, hungry, and with wounds from fighting for her life. This sweet young kitty was unchipped, unspayed, and neglected. We welcomed her into our home with the plan to adopt her and make our family a little bigger. She was a playful happy girl and thankful to have a family.

Unfortunately, within the week, she began to decline and stopped eating and drinking entirely. We took her to the emergency vet severely dehydrated and lethargic. After extensive testing, they were unsuccessful in finding out exactly what is going on with her. They sent us home with antibiotics and several other medications to help her to eat and be in less pain.

After a few days, she seemed to improve. She was eating more and wanting to explore. Unfortunately that only lasted a day or two and she began rapidly declining again. We took her back to the emergency vet where they found her jaundiced, febrile, and abnormal bloodwork. They did around round of invasive scans and ultimately believed that she was suffering from a deadly infection called FIP. FIP in cats used to be a death sentence but there is now treatment available. The treatment is effective in about 80-90% of cats. The vets are hopeful for her recovery but with her being so unstable she needs extensive medical care including hospitalization for several days. We want to give this baby a chance at life and happiness but the medical expenses are extremely high.

As graduate students, we are unable to take on the burden of these medical bills without some help from our community. Without help, we will unfortunately be unable to continue to support her and pay for her treatments. We are forced to consider the option of euthanasia if we are unable to treat her for her FIP. Please consider helping us get her healthy so she can finally learn what it means to have a family who loves her and cares for her unconditionally!! Anything you can give is much appreciated! Thanks for being part of our support system! ❤️❤️
