Holly (Temple) McGann Accident Fund

News Article (October 2014) In October 2014,  then 19-year old Holly (Temple) McGann was traveling home from her new job after having just moved to Tampa from Greater Boston.   She was riding a motorized scooter when she was hit head-on by a SUV and thrown from her bike.    Holly was in a coma and critical condition having suffered multiple external and internal injuries from head to toe, including extensive head and facial / eye injuries that has completely altered her appearance as well as having long-term if not permanent brain injury.      Her condition at the time did not allow her to be transported back to her family in Boston for quite some time  and her mother, Lisa Pagan, who herself just that year been given a clean bill of health for having fought breast cancer surgery/chemo, etc the prior year,  went on leave from work to be by her daughter's bedside in Florida while her husband and mother helped at home with Lisa's youngest daughter who turned 16 within days of her older sister's accident.

To date, Holly has had 17 different surgeries, some that needed to be redone once back in Boston to help reconstruct her head and beautiful face.   She went through extensive rehabilitation in Westborough, Massachusetts, and fortunately was eventually able to walk and move about "normally".  Her new husband , Sean, who is Holly's age, was and still is remarkably supportive and enough cannot be said for this young man handling such a difficult situation, which should be testament as to how beautiful a person Holly is inside and out despite her unforeseen tragedy that could happen to any of us or our loved ones.

One of Holly's now major repercussions from the result was suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), which affects her cognitive,  reasoning,  behavioural,  memory functions, and of course, the emotional ups and downs that come as a result.   For someone as highly intellectual and full of Life as Holly is, having this disorder can be heartbreaking and frustrating not just for her friends and family but most of all, for Holly herself as she and her family adjust to her "new normal".

With over $1,000,000 in medical expenses to date that were incurrred as a result and will continue to add up as she is not 100% healed, as insurances would have it, not all expenses are covered:  one of them being dental work as it's considered "cosmetic".    The coverage of the SUV driver was not remotely close to being able to fully cover the expenses,  and although her mother and stepfather have tirelessly explored multiple options including legal action, this is by no means an overnight or guaranteed process.

Since Holly is missing bone in her jaw and mouth, the dental work required is NOT "basic".    The total cost of the work needed is nearly $30,000, some of which has been already paid for, and a Boston-based firm has taken Holly on as a client to help bring back her beautiful smile.   $14,000 of the cost of the repairs remain, and as one of Holly's mother's lifelong best friend since we were in second grade in Southborough, Massachusetts, I felt compelled to help Holly as well.

All amounts raised are going straight to Holly's dental fund, and although some "fun" events are in the beginnig stages of being planned to help, in the meantime, this Go Fund Me page is being set up for those out of the area who have indicated a wish to help Holly as well or who would simply like to extend any token of thoughtfulness.

Your generosity and compassion for this beautiful girl and well-wishes in her healing now and in the future are truly appreciated by all of her family.
