Help Hawaii Team Get to State Finals

I am writing on behalf of ten talented young people. They paddle for the Kamehameha Canoe Club in Hilo. This past year, they have exhibited incredible discipline, commitment, and sportsmanship. They train five days a week plus attend every Saturday Regatta to compete for their team. Their strong ethic and hard work has paid off! About two weeks ago, two youth crews, 14 and 15 year old boys, qualified for the State Championship in Kauai August 2 - 4, 2013.

These young men, sons of the Big Island have shown great dedication and team spirit. They were so excited to qualify. As parents, coaches and friends, we are very proud of them and because they have done all and more than what is expected of them, the club has hosted a bake sale, a car wash and plate lunch to raise the funds needed for the kids to attend and compete.
The cost to attend States in Kauai is very high. Our young men come from working families who cannot afford the plane tickets, lodging, transportation, food and canoe rentals required to compete. In a last ditch effort, this Sunday, July 14th we will host a rummage sale at Mooheau Band Stand.

We have been successful in raising most of the required funds, however we are still short $4,000 dollars.
In the club meeting this week the coach had to tell these excited warriors that they may not be able to go to States due to lack of funds. The disappointment in their faces was heart-wrenching. This is our motivation in reaching out to you today, with this last minute request. The kids will be heartbroken, if they miss this wonderful opportunity, therefore we are writing to request the donation that will make all the difference.
