Moose is a 2.5 year old Great Dane mix that was adopted from Good Karma Puppy Rescue when he was 8 weeks old. Tragically Moose was hit by a speeding driver who did stop to see what he hit but the damage was already done. The extent of his injuries are; both left and right ankle hocks will need to be rebulit. Complete shearing of muscles, tendons and ligaments from bone. Left leg bone shearing as well. Surgery will involve rebuild using hardware. Bolts, screws, mesh and wiring to rebuild ligaments. Right leg will be closed. Left leg is worse, it will be an open wound heal.

His owners are 100% committed to helping him through post surgery, rehab and healing.

Every once in a great while, the world gives us a great gift of a very special dog.
WHILE all dogs and all God’s creatures are special, one in particular has been put down on this earth so he could teach us all great lessons.
Our boy MOOSE MULLIGAN has been such a huge gift to so many people. He is one of the most loving, attentive, docile, caring, nurturing sensitve dogs to ever be met in a lifetime.
From the time he was born he fought so hard to live. On a cold winter’s night, he and his sister were literally thrown away to freeze out in the cold.
Because of the amazing love and support form GOOD KARMA RESCUE, Moose and his sister were rescued. We met Moose at Premier Pets. He was up for adoption. As we saw him, it was so obvious the loving nature of this young boy. It was as if he was almost grateful. It was as if he knew he was being given a second chance. We brought him home and began to train him and love him!
At 12 weeks old, little did we know was that Moose was most likely born with PARVO; a VERY DEADLY illness that would the majority of times render the most painful and suffering death.
BUT WE WERE NOT GOING TO GIVE UP ON HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When the Vets told him that he probably would not make it, we didn’t follow their suggestion to let him pass.
NO SIR!!
Charmain at GOOD KARMA RESCUE told us to “BRING HIM BACK TO HER!!!!!!!!!!!!”
For the next week, she never left his side. We visited daily and egged him on to FIGHT !! FIGHT!!FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE MOOSIE!!!
Towards the end of the week after nursing him we were told to come say good-bye to him, he probably was not going to make it through the night.
BUT WE DID NOT STOP FIGHTING AND WE BEGGED HIM TO FIGHT!!! IT WAS AS IF HE KNEW IT WOULD BE OK, IF HE ONLY HE COULD FIGHT!!!! AND HE DID FIGHT!!!AND HE LIVED.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the past two and half years he has lived and thrived and played and jumped. He goes EVERYWHERE we go. HE IS OUR FAMILY!!!!He is obedient and kind and protective. He has healed others with his love and attention. So aware, so sensitive, HE IS ALMOST HUMAN WE say!!!!!!!!
This past Sunday, a careless driver , not paying attention to the traffc signs, AND EVEN AFTER BEING WAIVED DOWN IN TIME TO STOP!!! Ran over our beloved MOOSE. It was not Moose’s fault. Moose took a hit at approximately 50+ mile per hours. Almost 20 miles over the speed limit. BY SOME MIRACLE AND WE MEAN MIRACLE HE SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE HE SURVIVED SUCH AN IMPACT AND YET HE DID. BECAUSE HE IS MOOSE MULLIGAN!!!! AND HIS WORK ON THIS EARTH IS NOT DONE YET! TODAY he is in intensive care. He will need surgery. Probably a couple of them. We ask that if you have the ability to help in any way you can, WE WOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. THE KIND OF SURGERIES AND REHAB WHICH WILL BE REQUIRED COMES WITH AN ASTRONOMICAL PRICE. It will be a long hard road ahead. BUT WE ARE COMMITTED TO BE THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. JUST AS WE HAVE BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING!!! YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS AND COMMENTS AND DONATIONS WILL SERVE TO GO A LONG WAY.
