As many of you know, early in the morning on July 22, my youngest sister Katie was in a horrific car accident on her way to work. Katie's minivan was hit head-on, and rolled three times. Fortunately, her seatbelt saved her life. But her right ankle was destroyed, her foot nearly severed. The surgeon worked on her for 14 hours, reattaching nerves and ligaments, and repairing what bone remained with metal pins. After weeks in the hospital, she is now home, but faces a solid year in a cast, with exhaustive physical therapy and possible future surgeries. She's in a wheelchair for the foreseeable future, as she is unable & unallowed to put any weight on her foot. Her life has drastically changed.
I am typically the last person to ask for donations from anyone. But my sister Katie is a newly-single mother and sole provider for three young boys. Her one car was totaled in the accident. While the other driver was determined to be at fault, the legal/insurance process is proving to be slow, and she has insufficient savings to purchase a new car in the meantime.
Katie is one of the most giving people I know. She is selfless and kind, huge-hearted, and loving. When I labored through my 30-hour labor with Cece, Katie was there, never napping, never having to ask what I needed, just KNOWING, intuitively. I couldn't have made it through Cece's birth without her. She then stayed with us for six weeks after Cece arrived, making sure Cece and I were both getting all we needed.
Now Katie is the one needing help. I humbly ask, if you are able to contribute, will you help me help my baby sister? I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
