Your help needed: Ivan Raconteur's medical care
Donation protected
For more than 20 years, Ivan Raconteur has been a chronicler of local civic life, culture and events for the Herald-Journal. Thousands of readers have enjoyed his charming, insightful, funny and often poignant columns about his experiences living in Southern Minnesota under the banner of "Curmudgeon's Corner." He has shared his heart with us through his colorful prose, often writing about family, friendship, and of course, his beloved cats.
After suffering two strokes and working hard to recover, Ivan's health recently took a dire turn after suffering a fall. He is now experiencing liver and kidney failure and is being cared for at St. Gert’s Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Shakopee.
As you can imagine, the medical bills are mounting and are not, as is so often the case, covered by his insurance. As someone who has been so staunchly independent, this is causing him a lot of stress. He is maintaining a positive attitude, but he will continue to need ongoing care.
His extended family, siblings and cousins, appreciate any amount you may be able to contribute to the care of our favorite "curmudgeon,"—in reality a sweet and gentle soul who has given so much joy in sharing his love for the community.
Thank you so much for your donation and good wishes. His cousin, Libby, will be transferring the funds to his amazing sister, Deb, who is managing his care.
