Hello,
My name is Jake Nodolf and for more than 15 years, I've been in a progressively worse state of pain. I had to stop working in 2005 because of this. What started out as a pain in my feet in high school has moved to every part of my body inside and out. My brain interpets normal touch as severe pain leaving me unable to eat, breathe, walk, and talk without disabling pain. It has left me bedbound and still in pain. I've tried every methodology available with no benefit. There are very few doctors that treat my condition and an even smaller amount of choices for treatment. Meanwhile, I just keep getting worse. A year ago, I had to start trying things outside of what insurance would cover, incurring great costs. I've already taken out loans from family that cannot be maintained, and will soon be looking for more assets to sell in order to try to stay afloat.
I really hoped that it wouldn't have to get to this point, but in order to try to at least stop from constantly getting worse, I have to try some very expensive therapies. One for instance would cost $850 out of pocket three times a week for many months and an ongoing lesser expense for the rest of my life if it works. That's on top of my visits to a Dr. in VA and NY that have costs way above what insurance will pay. There may be trips to other countries for procedures that can't be done in the US. I've held out as long as possible, but now I'm desperate enough to basically beg. It feels horrible to do, but even more horrible is the thought of being once again paralyzed by pain and completely bedridden with great amounts of anxiety, depression, and physical pain. I've been told that it is possible for me to heal, it's just matter of figuring out how to do it. I just can't leave any stone unturned at this point. I humbly ask you to consider a donation to help give me a fighting chance. I just want to laugh again and be my goony self again. If I can't work, I would really like to be able to volounteer again with kids. At the heart of it, I truly love life. I can handle the disability, but when the pain is so much that air hurts against my skin or in my lungs, its true torture because it's unavoidable. Just being in a wheelchair or laying around doesn't stop it.
