Thank you for supporting Elliot and our family…..

Hi, I'm Carly, and I'm an identical twin. Throughout our 41 years, my twin and I have had to share many things—often to our mutual annoyance.
On November 18, 2014, my twin sister gave me the best gift that we’ve ever shared, my nephew, Elliot.
While I don't have children of my own, I'm lucky enough to get Elliot. His parents handle all the responsibilities, and I get to be fun Aunty Mommy when I see him.
In 2022, as some of you know, Elliot was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition. This diagnosis came after a medical emergency revealed four tumors that needed to be removed, along with both of his adrenal glands.
Elliot spent over forty days at Alberta Children’s Hospital, including Christmas, having and recovering from his major surgery. He handled it like a true champion and even managed to raise thousands of dollars for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation during the Country 105 Caring for Kids Radiothon in January of this year.
Sadly on August 29th, Elliot discovered an angry lymph node on his neck and told his mom. Within 24 hours, we found ourselves back at Alberta Children’s Hospital, facing a terrifyingly familiar situation. Elliot has since been diagnosed with a form of Leukemia/Lymphoma, which is not believed to be related to his previous genetic condition.
We are in shock.
Instead of starting fourth grade this week with his friends, Elliot spent it in the ACH oncology ward starting intensive chemotherapy treatments.
My twin sister and her husband are very private and shy people. They live out of town, as do the rest of the immediate family. They will need to stay close to Alberta Children’s Hospital in either Cochrane or Okotoks. The costs of gas, parking, food, and missed work, will be overwhelming for our small family.
Although my sister insists they don’t need help, I’m her stubborn twin, and I’m determined to support them in every way possible.
One way I’m asking for help is by reaching out to friends and loved ones. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and it must take something even greater to help a sick one.
Please help me raise funds for my family during this difficult time. Life has come to a standstill, and the months ahead will bring significant challenges as we transition Elliot to outpatient and continue on his chemo treatments.
My sister is taking a break from social media to focus on Elliot, and is not aware I’m doing this, but... sometimes we all need a little help. (If you know my sister please do not contact her as her head is swimming and she’s just trying to get through each day…maybe if this gets some traction she can just feel a bit of relief, love, and support when I show this to her).
I know these are tough times financially, so if you can’t contribute, please share far and wide to help spread the word, and please keep my amazing man in your hearts and minds as we work through this difficult period together.
Elliot, you got this!!!
-Carly (Aunty Mommy)

Ps. We are so beyond grateful for the Alberta Children’s Hospital and every single person involved there. Thank you as well to all the amazing foundations and resources we have been offered so quickly.

Elliot hugging his surgeon, Dr. Yanchar, during the Country 105 Caring for Kids radiothon which raises funds for Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Elliot accessed a number of their donor funded services during his stay in 22.

Elliot was able to raise enough funds during his “power hour” to fund a new surgical retractor for ACH, an updated version of the one used in his adrenal surgery in ‘22.

So thankful for ACH and everyone involved
