Prior to Thursday, April 18th, Kevin was having flu symptoms and experiencing panic attacks. Soon feeling overwhelmed, he called his mom , and like the angel she is, she quickly came to the rescue. After returning to Champaign, IL, they headed to Carle hospital to seek treatment. The doctors there were stumped and decided to send him to the specialists at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. The 2 ½ hour ambulance ride was beyond intimidating and frightening. It rattled Kevin’s bones at every moment, making him want to turn around and go back home.
Upon arriving at Barnes, Kevin would learn that he had acquired a nasty virus called the “corona virus’”. It had not only affected his everyday life, but greatly weakened his heart, liver and kidneys. Receiving multiple diagnoses at one time was enough to freeze Kevin in his tracks. It is incredibly humbling and terrifying to learn you have no control in some situations.
Thanks to the wonderful people at Barnes, Kevin is looking at an upswing, praying to be released this weekend. Rehabilitation will include many visits to specialists and therapists. The estimated time for recovery is 8-12 weeks, during which time he’ll be unable to work.
If any of you could give funds, prayers, and/or good intentions, it will forever help him.
Thank you!
