Clio was rescued from her predestined life of becoming a bait dog by the incredible Lovers Not Biters Dog Rescue in New Orleans when she was only a few months old. A year and a half ago she found me from across the room at a crowded adoption event where I immediately fell in love and adopted her to live in her Forever Home. Being a beginning social worker for a non-profit agency working a stressful job, she is truly the special light in my life that gives me the energy to continue doing what I do on a daily basis.
Clio just turned 2 years old this Christmas and a few days after her birthday I noticed something wasn’t right with her leg. She developed a limp and was having issues walking. After visiting the vet and having several x-rays done they were unsure what exactly was wrong with her leg bone. Clio went in for a bone biopsy surgery to determine what exactly was causing her so much pain and we prayed for the best.
At only 2 years old Clio was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). She now needs to immediately go in for an amputation surgery to remove her entire front left leg. Following the amputation to remove the bone tumor from her body she will need to undergo 4 to 6 rounds of Chemotherapy to try to stop the spread of the cancer to her lungs.
The cost of the surgery and supplemental chemotherapy to help save Clio’s life will cost approximately around $4000. We are looking to raise $2000 to help with the mounting costs. I am doing my best and reaching out to try to give her the long and happy life that she deserves.
