I'm chasing the dream I've carried in my heart for years: becoming a **teacher and school counselor** so I can guide, encourage, and believe in young people the way I wish someone had for me when I needed it most.

After years as a Vice President of Sales, I walked away from twenty years in that field of work to follow my true calling — serving my community by mentoring youth, being the steady, positive role model so many kids desperately need. I've always felt pulled to cheer them on through tough days, help them see their own potential, and help them thrive into bright futures.

But the road to certification isn't cheap or easy — especially after my company laid off all 500 of us, including me. Four required exams at $116 each plus one exam fee at $200, five study guides at $50 apiece, a $116 supplemental course, and $50/day rideshares for mandatory classroom observations — these costs add up quickly when you're already rebuilding from scratch. I will also need to purchase classroom materials as a first time teacher

Instead of giving up, I took my leadership skills and created my own role as a Peer Support Specialist the very same night I was let go. I now host online sessions weekdays and study weeknights and weekends. I'm working harder than ever to keep moving forward.

Additionally, I am also trying to help equip students in need with school supplies and snacks. There is on average one-third of students in need, so 100 out of 300 students.
