Help Bring Luna Home

A Street Dog's Journey from India to the UK.

Luna was born on the streets of Gwalior, India. Like millions of other dogs, she was surviving on scraps, instinct, and luck.

I didn’t go to India to rescue a dog. I met Luna by accident. She approached me cautiously one night when I pulled up by the highway. A scared, scrawny, hungry little thing. So I gave her some food and water. And the next day she was waiting in the same place.

I found out she was living nearby, under a tea stall by the highway. So I started visiting her regularly, bringing her puppy food and fresh water, gradually gaining her trust. And over the next few days she really did start to trust me, in a way that street dogs rarely do.

I didn't plan to adopt her, I just wanted to make her life a little better. One night it was really, really cold, so I took her a blanket to sleep in. Straight away, she settled into it, happy and content. It was at that moment I decided I couldn't let her live one more night on the streets. So I scooped her up in her new blanket and took her home.

Leaving her behind in India stopped being an option the moment I took her in.

Since adopting Luna, she has:

• Been microchipped
• Started a full vaccination schedule
• Begun rabies compliance required for UK entry
• Received veterinary checks and ongoing care

She recently had her first bath. She sleeps indoors. She eats regularly. She’s safe, secure and happy.

But safety in India does not mean permanence.

Bringing a dog legally into the UK is expensive, complex, and tightly regulated. Between veterinary care, blood tests, waiting periods, documentation, approved transport, and customs clearance, the cost is far beyond what most people expect. And far beyond what I can manage alone.

This fundraiser is not about impulse rescue or poor planning. It’s about finishing what’s already been started: ensuring that a dog who has finally known safety and stability is not forced back into uncertainty because of borders and bureaucracy.

Every donation goes directly toward:

• Mandatory rabies titre testing
• Veterinary care and maintenance
• DEFRA-compliant veterinary documentation
• Approved transport and airline fees
• Import handling and customs clearance

Receipts, vet records, and progress updates will be shared publicly.

Luna already has a home.

This campaign exists to help her reach it.

If you’re unable to donate, sharing her story helps just as much.

Thank you for reading. And for giving Luna a chance.
