Health Internship (Ghana) & Mission Trip (Mexico)
Donation protected
Hello everyone! Thank you for your interest in helping.
This year, I am hoping to travel out of the country on two separate occasions: Mexico over spring break for a Mission Trip and Accra, Ghana over summer for a Global Health Internship.
(UPDATE: This has already taken place. Thank you so much for all those who helped me get there. See the update section for a few photos of the trip!) In Mexico, I will be serving alongside other Davis Christian Fellowship (DCF) students from UC Davis at the Rancho De Sus Niños orphanage. Here, our team will participate in kids ministry and manual work projects, as well as lead connection groups for community building and community outreach events such as trash and water ministry on the Rancho campuses and in towns near Tecate. My personal goal in going here is to love on the children of Mexico, and to lend an extra hand at the orphanage which works everyday to be there for them and the community. In order to go on this mission trip (my first one ever!), I need to raise a total of $500.
In Ghana, I will be working with local medical professionals at the historic Children's Hospital in Accra. During my time abroad, I hope to gain a better understanding of the health factors that affect children and families of the world, as well as how social and economic conditions directly play into their health. In addition, I will be given the opportunity to work with the Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Non-Governmental Organization doing outreach involving family planning and sexual and reproductive health for the country's women. This experience would not only be eye-opening, but it will positively impact my educational journey as I work towards a career in the health field, and will help me obtain my intended minor in Global International Studies. I am particularly interested in learning about the social determinants of health and how these factors specifically work into malnutrition and the women's health conditions. The total estimated cost of this program will be $9649.16, taking into account personal expenses such as airfare as well as the course fee and study abroad fee.
I am SO excited to be given these amazing and opportunities, and I hope you know how much of a difference YOU are making in my life by partnering with me in this. Even a small donation will go a long way in helping me reach my goal and learn from the health professionals in Ghana this summer. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this, and I hope you have a blessed year!
Love,
Anysa
