Ann (Davis) Jensen has been diagnosed with Stage IIIB cervical cancer. She maintains a positive attitude and is steadfast in her faith that God and her medical team will successfully get her through this, but she needs financial help. This GoFundMe page was set up by friends of Ann in hopes of alleviating some of the financial burden and worry.
Ann is a single mother of a beautiful 15 year old daughter, and a dear friend to so many. She's a lifelong resident of Livermore, and a 1982 graduate of Granada High School. She is one of those people that doesn’t know a stranger. Always greats you with a huge smile and takes genuine interest in getting to know you. She was born with a beautiful singing voice. Her passion is music and she has enjoyed performing with various local bands over the years.
• Cancer Diagnosis
Ann had not been feeling well over the holidays and into the new year. While at home alone with her daughter on Monday, 1/15/18, she began hemorrhaging and lost conciousness. She was rushed by ambulance to Valley Care. Her hemoglobin count was so low (down to 6) making her condition critical. She was admitted to Kaiser Walnut Creek and received seven blood transfusions over the course of a week. Exams discovered a mass on her cervix, and biopsy results confirmed it was malignant. Ann had a PET scan and was informed on Wednesday, 1/31/18, that she has Stage IIIB cervical cancer (meaning the cancer has grown into the walls of the pelvis, and to nearby lymph nodes).
• Treatment Plan
The initial treatment plan is radiation five days a week for five weeks, along with weekly chemo infusions. The treatments are to begin as soon as possible (schedule to be confirmed on 2/5/18). In the meantime, and during treatment, she is not to exert herself, and needs to reduce stress. After completing the treatments they will conduct more scans to see if cancer cells are still present. If cancer cells remain she will undergo a hysterectomy.
• How You Can Help
Ann lives paycheck to paycheck and hasn’t been able to work since 1/11/18. She does not have sick leave so there is no money coming in. She is already in a financial hole. She hopes to return to work by May, depending on whether or not surgery will be required.
She needs help to pay for the usual monthly expenses of rent, car insurance, medical insurance, groceries, gas, PG&E, etc.
