Finally after over a week of leaving food and water we were finally able to catch her!
We immediately rushed her to the vet to find out that her left hip is badly dislocated and will require an orthopedic specialist to operate. We won’t know the direction that surgery will take (either amputation or reconstruction) until the surgeon takes a look at her in two weeks (she is a tiny 33lbs and should weigh about 50lbs... so vets advised we get her healthy before potential surgery). She is so emaciated we have her on 2-3 hour feedings, the vets said that this frail little fighter wouldn’t have made it through the weekend I️f she hadn’t let us save her.
From the minute we slipped the leash over her tiny little head we knew she was different. She is the most loving and appreciative animal I’ve ever had the privilege of caring for. The days of not eating and shivering her way through cold city night are over, however her battle with getting healthy and surgery has just begun.
We are looking at a minimum of $3000 for her hip surgery, on top of spaying, meds after care and rehab. If you can find it in your heart to help sweet Alley get a second chance at life every little bit helps!
I have also started an Instagram and Facebook page for her if you’re interested more in her story and to see her progress! :)
