Help Allan Heal!

While moving some furniture on October 29, 2016, Allan slipped and fell out of a Uhaul truck. He landed abruptly and with enough force to completely ruptured both of his quadriceps tendons. He was rushed in for immediate reconstructive surgery that night. All went well, but he will most likely be kept for further observation and will hopefully be released soon so can begin his road to recovery. His mobility will be very limited for the next couple of weeks but he is very confident that he will be able to bounce back quickly so he can get back to the gym with renewed intensity and first hand knowledge and experience in injury recovery which will allow him to better understand the difficulties that many of you have had to face.

He is worried about his clients and having to cancel their sessions. The owners at CrossFit Felix - Woodinville are more than willing to allow his clients to come in and train and will assist them wherever they can.

Allan is happy to help come up with ways for his clients to train on their own in his absence and can also facilitate workouts between his clients to help them stay on track and motivated.

Please don't hesitate to contact him so he can assist you in staying on track to reach your goals! If you haven't already, make sure to follow the Inovejas Fit For Life pages on Facebook and Instagram (links will follow) for updates on his progress and workouts you can do at home.

~More about Allan, from a dear friend and client below~
_______

My name is Corey Reynolds, I have trained with Allan, along side of some of you, for over 2 years. During the last 2 years, Allan has become a dear friend, always willing to jump in and lend a hand or provide emotional support whenever needed. Everyone who is lucky enough to know Allan is well aware of his warm heart, generous nature, boundless energy and infectious giggle. He has dedicated his life to inspiring others and leading by example. Allan wakes up just after 2am so that he can make it into Gold's to get in a workout before he heads to the gym to put in a full day of training others. Always practicing what he preaches, Allan maintains a clean and healthy diet and is always happy to share his knowledge with others. He happily educates even random strangers that strike up conversations with him, wanting to know how it is done, especially when they discover that he is 53 years old!

Last Saturday, while moving, Allan slipped and fell off a Uhaul and completely ruptured both of his quadraceps tendons. The four quadriceps muscles meet just above the kneecap (patella) to form the quadriceps tendon. The quadriceps tendon attaches the quadriceps muscles to the patella. The patella is attached to the shinbone (tibia) by the patellar tendon. Working together, the quadriceps muscles, quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon straighten the knee. When the quadriceps tendon completely tears/ruptures, the muscle is no longer anchored to the kneecap. Without this attachment, the knee cannot straighten when the quadriceps muscles contract. Most people with complete tears will require surgery to repair the torn tendon. Surgical repair reattaches the torn tendon to the top of the kneecap. People who require surgery do better if the repair is performed soon after the injury. Early repair may prevent the tendon from scarring and tightening into a shortened position. To reattach the tendon, sutures are placed in the tendon and then threaded through drill holes in the kneecap. The sutures are tied at the bottom of the kneecap. Complete recovery takes at least 4 months. Most repairs are nearly healed in 6 months.

As a personal trainer, Allan only gets paid when he is training. Being an independent trainer allows Allan the flexibility to train us all in a way that fits into our scheduels and life styles, which we all benefit from. Unfortunatley this flexibility will now create many financial issues for him. He will be facing HUGE medical bills at a time when he will be struggling to train enough to cover his every day living expenses. As you can imagine, this will be very difficult for him. He will have an immediate need for funds to cover his every day living and business expenses so he can focus on his recovery as well as funds to help cover the ambulance ride, ER visit, surgery and 2-day hospital stay. Allan always does whatever he can to keep his clients in peak mental and physical shape so that they can tackle all of life's challenges. It is now time for us to do the same for him. He will not be able to focus on his recovery if he is worried about his financial situation. If he can not focus on his recovery, he can not get his butt healthy enough to get back in the gym and kick our butts!!! I can only speak for myself, but every day that goes by that I do not train, is a day closer to a mental breakdown for me. So, I will be so very thankful if everyone could dig deep and help out in whatever way makes sense for you and your family! I am personally offering a few incentives to make your giving a bit more rewarding... and am so very grateful for any amount that you can give, because every penny given to Allan is one penny less that I will be needing for bail money!
