On February 24th at 6:15 a.m., Abel Aragon was leaving a Home Depot parking lot when ICE agents took him into custody. Within days, he was transferred to a detention facility in Louisiana, far from his community. A community he has spent more than 20 years building in this country.

Abel is a good man. He mentors young adults in skilled trades. He shows up during emergencies. He sends money to Belize to help children get what they need for school. He gives his time, his tools, home-cooked meals and his knowledge all without asking for recognition.

Abel is also the father of Ian, who proudly serves in the United States Navy. Ian has initiated a Military Parole in Place application and a family petition so his father can remain in the country. Unfortunately those documents were not processed before Abel was detained.

We are raising funds for:

• Legal costs related to the habeas petition and ongoing litigation

• Detention center commissary funds for necessities and phone access

• Utilities and home expenses to keep his home safe while he is away

• Support for Abel when he is released

Legal representation moves quickly and is costly. We want to ensure Abel has the strongest defense possible.

Abel has spent 20 years showing up for his community. Now we are asking his community to show up for him.
