Ever had your most successful financial win ever, only to have $15k stolen from your business the same day?
Azure Ocean's Killa Dilla is a food booth that sells the original Killa Dilla, our northwest riff on a quesadilla.
Last weekend, in the middle of a very successful few days at the world renowned and absolutely epic "What the Festival," our bank was stolen from a locked box in our truck that was in the vendor parking area.
Now, these things happen. Every food vendor has had events that are total bombs: rainy events where no one shows up, technical difficulties, and even "acts of god." What is so heartbreaking about this event is just how successful we were.
A crew of amazing people worked their asses off bringing festival goers delicious, nourishing food starting at six in the morning! It was the best event I have personally ever vended at. When I plan for these events, I work the numbers for three scenarios: break even, hopeful goal, and "shoot the moon." This past weekend we shot the moon. Then we were robbed of all of the profits (and then some). Those profits were going to be used to set us up for Oregon Country Fair (OCF) and Pickathon as well as opening our cart at the new Nelson Plaza food cart pod in Kenton, North Portland. The plan was to be able to pay booth fees, buy food, and get a larger Dilla grill (I've found one for super cheap that will do just the trick) so that we can feed the people at our absolute favorite festival, OCF.
I've been urged to start this GoFundMe so that our amazing community of friends, patrons, and the Killa Dilla family can support us in getting back on our feet for the next event, our beloved Oregon Country Fair.
I have to say this. I work for my money and it is very difficult to ask, or even accept, anything that feels like a handout. But Sunday morning I had everthing we have worked for pryed away. We had $10k to $15k stolen from us. I'm not asking for that, just enough to get us poised for our next big event that is in only two weeks!
So if you want to be part of the love and support that has been welling up to push back with both hands against the crushing darkness that has touched us, I will trade you Dillas and shwag. If we hit the goal and this allows me to slang the best quesadilla in the northwest through the summer, I'll do my best to throw a block party in August.

$500 - Let's be real here. There's nothing I could do to get you back for this. But I'll give you a T-shirt, a hat, and 25 free Dillas.
$1,000 - Really? Wow. How about I make Dillas for your party. A cap of 50 people sounds pretty reasonable to me. Plus, you know, the shwag.
